Has anyone succeeded in setting up Outlook for Windows 8.1?
What version of Outlook are you using on windows 8.1? You'll be able to set up your email using the instructions here Internet Articles under the section called Email Setup. If you've already tried setting up your email using the documentation there, what error messages are you getting?
Hello Julia, we are using the Outlook version included in Miscrosoft Office 2013 that was purchased yesterday. The issue is accessing email attachments, which apparently are not receivable via the resident Windows mail 8.1 because there is a compatability issue with shaw webmail.
Outlook 2013 Activesync will not work with Shaw's current email server version. Until they upgrade or enable "Zimbra Outlook Connector" you can only use Pop3 email with Outlook 2013, so no synchronized email, contacts and calendar.
Thanks. We were having problems setting up Outlook even for the pop3 access. I didn't find the example of Outlook setup instructions on the Shaw site to match what we were seeing with Windows 8.1. Fortunately I think we just managed to get it working. Not as easy as it should be though.
An alternative method is to have your Shaw email forwarded to your MS Account, and then have Outlook 2013 handle your email from there. This avoids Shaw's slooooow POP3 protocol, and gives you the full power of a proper EAS setup. I give a brief set up summary in this thread.
