I have a ip pbx which need public ip address. why now i cannot get second public ip address?
A) You are using a Shaw modem/router combo unit in router mode (bridge your modem and have Shaw add the 2nd IP address)
B) Your account is currently set for 1 IP address
C) You are on a plan that doesn't include the 2nd included IP
-Curious (because this has no relation on your issue, so you not answering wouldn't affect the help you get), which IP PBX are you using? Which upstream provider?
I already call shaw to change my model to bridge mode.
I just move to new apt, my roommate apply for the internet. I think the plan is high 25, is this plan not support 2 ip address?
The month before this month, I was in my old apt, and my internet plan is high 25 too, but I can get second ip address. So, its weird.
PBX, I run asterisk on my old server( 32G, L5420*2) with 2FXO 2FXS, it just connect to my server in SEATTLE, why sea? low rtt, cheap rent and the upstream can bgp annoument my own ip block.
The VOIP upstream, I use serveral, I buy DID from didlogic, outgoing to China via 51dyt, outgoing to CANDAD/US via google voice/freephoneline.ca, and I will move to other voip provider, but not decided yet.
Which modem are you using? - If you have the Motorola modem, we don't have to check/confirm it is bridged. If you have the Cisco or SMC, first confirm the modem is bridged.
On some accounts, the 2nd IP has a billing code - $0.00 but still a billing code to add the 2nd IP, my first guess is that the modem is only set for a single public IP
Yeah, Shaw seems to have very good routing to Seattle
the cisco one, I already call shaw to set it to brideg mode, now my router can get public ip, but the server cannot.
the transit map of shaw can see here Shaw Business, the colocation prices is very high in Canada, I had talk to some Data center in Calgary, they told me, 100Mbps shared 1 outlet and 250GB month traffic need $200 and if need bgp announce plus 200 setup fee, and 100$ per month management fee.
However, in sea is much cheap than Canada, but also expensive than LA, in sea it cost my 100$ per month, 5TB traffic over 100Mbps port. In LA, 1000$ I can get half cabinet plus 200Mbps commit on 1G port.
oh, the ovh.com offer a best server and network in montreal, which is too far to west side.
I've been looking at OHV recently, and NFO, I have a project in mind for them...
Used to have a dedicated box in Germany, but latency is too high for what I need, cheap though
But it sounds like the 2nd IP isn't activated on your account
I don't think there are any more shaw-moderators on tonight, telephone support could help you though
Your friendly neighbourhood Moderation team is here now to assist. Let me know if you'd still like me to verify whether your modem is provisioned for 2 IPs and I'll send you a direct message for that.
