I had one of the Shaw techs here this afternoon fixing my Gateway. While we were both listening the fan on the Shaw expander went chug, chug, thud and stopped. I tried blowing out the fan with compressed air, but the fan still would not start back up. We think the drive is still okay.
Rather than repair the fan on the Shaw expander (seagate drive), can I take the drive out and put it in a new enclosure, possibly a 2 drive esata enclosure, and plug it back in. We do not want to lose the recordings that are currently on the drive.
