HD Guide spills over screen

I just replaced my old Shaw box with a new DCX-3510 HDPVR, and now the program guide won't fit my TV. It stretches outside the screen, cutting off the numbers and menu text on either side. The effect is like a widescreen movie cropped to fit a standard 4:3 TV.

After fiddling around, I solved the problem (somewhat)  by changing my TV from HD to normal, ie, from 16:9 to 4:3. Now the guide fits, but everything else is squashed, with black borders all around.

I can change the aspect ratio, but that looks crappy. And if I want to watch a DVD, I have to reset the TV resolution back to 16:9.

So I can either have a Guide that's too big, or a TV picture that's too small. My question is, is there any way to shrink the guide so it fits on an HDTV?
