We just recently got a new phone number with Shaw, and when calling out our name and number isn't displayed but "private number" is. This is causing our calls to be blocked or not answered. How can we remove this id?
If it's showing as "private number" on your outbound calls, we have your call display set to Non-Published.
There are 3 options:
1. Listed - your display name and number shows on outbound calls and you are listed in 411 and phone books
2. Non-listed - your display name and number shows on outbound calls, you are listed in 411 but not phone books
3. Non-Published - your name and number does not show on outbound calls and you are not listed in 411 and phone books
If you would like to stay as Non-Published, you can choose to show your name and number on a call-by-call basis by dialing *82 before each phone call. However, if you would like to switch to either Non-Listed or Listed, let us know. We could then private message you for your account information and make that change for you.
You can also log into "My Account" (upper right corner) then select 'Phone', then 'Manage Phone Features', then you'll see a 'Go to Phone Portal' (green) button to the right. Click that, then click the 'Privacy' tab. Turn off 'Hide Name' and 'Hide number'.
Personally I use *82 for friends and family, and leave the above features on. (I program *82 before any numbers in my "phone book" for said family and friends.)
