Any idea when the shaw gateway app will be ready for the rest of us?
I can't give you a date since it depends on the staff trial results. Once we are close to that whatever date will be scheduled we may be able to provide more details about the update.
There are 100 people testing this app from the community all who expressed interest. Everyone that made a submission has been added to the trial. Everyone had equal opportunity to join the trial that includes yourself. We don't develop the gateway apps, and therefore their is a reliance on Arris. Some things are out of our control, while others are decisions made to ensure the customer experience is where it needs to be at launch. some of those trial members can attest to that knowing what the issues are requiring 7.1.7.
There are some issues that need fixing first for sure
gateway code version 7.1.7 is required before the app can be released. Also the GA candidate for Android is being released to us this month as well for the test group to test with. The IOS app is ready to go with the caveat that gateway code 7.1.7 is deployed in production (Presently being tested by staff trial).
There are no dates that can be released yet as it does have a dependency of ARRIS delivering the GA release of the android version.
Seriously?!!? You guys are so far off schedule on this it's not even funny.
You opened the trials in December... almost 4 months ago. And that was AFTER you guys released a "beta" internally. That is a horrible software release plan. Granted things happen, but 4 months is awful!
Sure the more vocal users in this forum got the beta and they were placated, but there are countless other people that want these features and don't want to pay to be beta testers. And really are paying more and more on each Shaw bill increase, on you guys spinning your wheels in development.
So when exactly is "gateway code version 7.1.7" supposed to be release?!

I am one of the testers for the app. Due to our NDA I can't reveal a lot but I think I'm safe in saying the following as most of it is public:
I know this may be frustrating as many expected this capability a few years ago, myself included. I truly hope that when it is released you find value in the app and have a positive experience... but it doesn't make the waiting any easier.

I think you hit the nail on the head though when you pointed out that this was expected a few years ago. Even still it was expected in January... and then now again, no date to be mentioned which is now 3 months past January. Even the Android version was expected in February... again nothing. Sure now it's in Beta, but how long is this beta testing going to take... another 3 months on top of what's already been done. Too slow, plain and simple.
I understand this is in beta and there are going to be issues. I understand that process very well. I think at this point though, Arris are making Shaw look like a bunch of fools. That, or Shaws requirements of the Arris system stack were unrealistic as a customer. Either way this was a "feature" that was expected of the Gateway system ages ago. Arris and Shaw should have known and agreed to at least the high level requirements for this "app" and gateway feature's needed at that time. But instead have continually dropped deadlines.
Anyway, my rant is over... I will continue to wait and see if this App is worth everything they say it is...
