How long does it take to format the 1TB hard drive on Pace Summit DC758D?

I was chatting with Shaw Support last night to attach WD Expander with Pace DC758D.

I followed his following instructions:

 

Could you please follow these instructions to re-synchronize your HDbox to the Expander?

 

  1. Unplug power from your HDBOX and your expander. Ensure
    your TV remains on and switched to the correct HD input.
  2. unplug the eSATA cable connected to your Shaw PVR
    Expander on both ends. Then replug the cord back in (swap the eSata cord ends
    if you can).
  3. Re-connect your Expander to power using the provided
    power pack.
  4. Wait 15 seconds, then plug power back into your HD Box,
    and turn it on.
  5. Once power is restored, check for recording function.

 

 

Tried it a couple of times but nothing happend. So he told me that  he will send a tech over. Charges will be $30 and they will reverse the charges if expander or the PVR is faulty and will replace them as well. I said let me give it a try  tonight.

 

At first the hard drive was not spinning. It was clicking , trying to spin but it wasnt. then it started to spin. and I got to the point where it asks you to format. I said yes... But it took for ever and I went to sleep. I woke up around 5 am and the pace was on and i thought it must have completed the formatting. but same thing. No Pvr function.

Tried again and started the formatting and then woke up at 8.15 am and it was still showing C99C on the front panel and no picture on tv.

 

I guess I'm playing with a Toasted Hard drive.

Should I just call the tech and have him replace the Expander?

or am I doing something wrong?
