Has anyone been able to setup up Outlook 2013 using Exchange as the type? It was initially setup as a pop account, but I'd rather use exchange which is how I have my BlackBerry setup.
Our exchange active sync service will not work with Outlook 2013 as it does with mobile clients. POP/SMTP though will work though with the instructions here.
How disappointing. Hopefully there's a real effort to resolve this issue. I'm surprised that this full featured client is not supported using Exchange. Having email, calendars and contacts syncing across all devices (including shaw webmail) is contingent on using this technology.
Agreed, EAS is a great solution for mobile, it's just not quite as adopted on the desktop client side at this point (EAS being a different protocol/service than Exchange). As far as I know, Outlook 2013's EAS implementation only works with Microsoft accounts (former Hotmail, Outlook.com and Live), but I may be wrong. I can't find any solid data on this, so I'd have to give it a try at home with another EAS account service.
Windows 8.1 Mail however does work with our EAS implementation, but in a limited fashion. Email can be sent and received, but attachments will not be downloaded.
