i had a new router installed today now i cant get my printer to work on wireless mod
Could you advise the model and brand of your printer? And what happens when you try to connect it to your network?

Its a brother mfc-685cw
New router installed today?
Your own router? Or Shaw's modem/router combo unit?
Its a shaw router c/w wifi
Were you using a different Shaw wifi router before today? And it was working?
If so, I suspect that you need to setup the new wireless details in your printer
Yes i had an old oneand it worked fine.I have been trying to set up the newwireless details from the printer but the router isnt accepting them ive reset the router 4-5 times and followed the instructions on the brother website but it isnt taking it
Thanks, can you advise of the steps you are using to connect the Printer to the Cisco router?
Are you using WPS or entering the WiFi passphrase on the printer?
Another option, is to have your new Shaw modem/router bridged, and you can continue using your existing router
When i try to download from the printer to the router it isnt accepting printer on the router
I had same problem with hp printer. Solved issue after reading a lot of posts, it turned out I had to reinstall printer with USB cable attached, downloaded software and install and select wireless at one point and tells you to unhook cable and continue with network configuration for printer. Hope this works for you but it's a different printer. Good Luck.
Yeah, basically you have to start the configuration process over from the beginning
Ive deleted and downloaded the program 100 times now. Ive been on the phone to a shaw tech and been on chat with a brother tech and it still isnt working Ive spent 3-8 hrs a day everyday now trying to get this printer working again and it still isnt working.I wish the clown from Shaw who decided I needed a new modem for no reason was here.I wonder if he has ever heard of the phrase if it isnt broke dont fix it???? HOW DO I GET MY OLD MODEM BACK RUNNING AGAIN?????I TRIED TO HOOK IT UP ON THE WEEKEND AND IT WONT WORK EITHER NOW.
If you didn't have any success connecting directly with a USB cable and still have your old modem, we can definitely get that one working for you. The reason it doesn't work is because it wouldn't be active on the account; your new one is. I can definitely change that for you and we can discuss any further options. I'll send you a direct message since I'll need your account information and the old modem's serial number.
heard of the phrase if it isnt broke dont fix it
Usually you are talking to tech support if something is broken...
But in my opinion, you are better to have your new modem put into bridge-mode and go back to using your older, working router
Maven :Shaw swaped out a working modem for the new wifi model .My printer WAS working just fine thank you when they swapped out the modem.Thats why im saying if it isnt broke dont fix it.Anyhow last night I reinstalled my old modem and old router. IT STILL WOULDNT WORK until I did a system restore and restored my system back to the way it was before the modem was installed. Now finally its working again with the old modem and the old router.I did try to bridge from the new modem to the old router when I had the new modem hooked up.I was doing it add hock and my computer skills are not great so may not have been doing it properly but I couldnt make that work .
I have found that the new cisco modem has problems with lan/wlan not bridged properly and clients not talking. Weather or not ap isolation is the issue ill never know, I dont remeber seeing that option in the config menu. Could be a great setup, hopefully some firmware can fix some of these issues.
If you had to do a system restore, that tells me something else was going on with your computer system, which may have been a major cause of your issues... But if it is working now, everything is good
Yes its working for how long i guess time will tell.both router and modem are at least 8 or 9 years so i expect they will pile up anytime. One thing I like about this site is the people who are willing to try to help you solve a problem.I've had all sorts of suggestions the last few days of things to try and normally just about anyone of them would have or could have worked.I seriously doubt I would get that sort of help from any of the other internet providers. Thanks to everyone here who tried to help.
I'm glad to hear it's working for you now and that the Community has helped you out! If anything comes up in the future, don't hesitate to create another thread for help or even take a look through existing threads and maybe you can provide some insights to someone else! Pay it forward as it were.
For what it's worth, this may help if you have not done this after chat with Brother rep. Have you reset printer to factory default before reinstalling as your old settings are stored on printer. Good luck in getting this solved.
