Guys, I have noticed that when I skip forward or change channel I get black screen for 2-3 seconds. Sometimes you can hear the sound but the entire screen is black. What causes this problem and what can I do to fix it?
Hi there erikmarko
Have you just recently started noticing this and does this seem to happen on standard definition and HD channels? What kind of cable box have you got? This could possibly be an HDMI issue. Have you tried removing the power from your cable box for 30 seconds or so, plugging it back in and checking to see if it's still an issue?
Edit: I suppose I should assume you have a Gateway since you posted in our Gateway forum . So an additional question, does this happen on more than one Portal?
This has been happening for a while now. I have the MP2000NA model portals on Gateway MG5225GNA. This happens only on one portal. I will try to reset it and see if it helps.
For sure, give that a go and maybe while you're at it, remove and reconnect the HDMI cable at both ends.
Can you tell us what resolutions you have set for that portal. Sounds like your switching resolutions on channel changes etc.
The resolution is set to high definition. I know there is a delay when changing channels but that's not it. It usually happens when I skip forward or back when watching TV or recorded TV.
sounds like it is only occurring on one portal in your setup.
have you tried replacing the hdmi cable? is there a third party device in between the portal and tv?
did the reboot resolve the problem?
Hi there erikmarko,
Did the suggestions above help alleviate this issue? As it's only happening on that one Portal, it really sounds like it needs a reboot, or the HDMI cable reseated/swapped out.
It looks like it does not happen anymore with live tv. It still happens when skipping when playing recorded program.
