I Have set up shaw email on ipad but the received history is not showing up, any ideas?
When you say you don't see the received history, do you mean it is not downloading older emails? If you log in to Shaw Webmail do you have emails in the Inbox here?
Morning questions2014, can you try to go here to adjust the number of days your email will sync? This will work with when you have your iPad configured as Exchange.
Open Mail Application -> Overflow Menu -> Settings -> [Select your Account] -> Days to sync
See if this pulls earlier email for you.

I Had the sync set up for unlimited, so I reset for one month still is only showing new emails on ipad, laptop shows all, so I know the email is there, just will not show on ipad.
There is a known issue where selecting the No Limit sync option does not work on iOS when using Exchange settings, although you should be able to get it to sync all emails from within the last 30 days if you choose 30 days. With the option to sync 30 days selected on your iPad, are you seeing emails on Webmail sent/received within the last 30 days that are not showing on your iPad?
