Cannot send emails using the server mail.shaw.ca on my mac. Is there trouble reported?
Those are the correct settings for @shaw.ca email address configuration, except for one thing; You will want to click on "Use Custom Port" and enter 587 in the window you posted first above. Here is how it should look:
The alternative if that does not work for you us to un-check 'Use Secure Sockets Layer' and enter 25 in the custom port box. We do hope this helps!
We haven't had any other trouble reported on this, so i'm sure we can get your outgoing email going there without much trouble.
Are you receiving any particular error message when you try to send?
Let's go here and review the settings please: How to set up email in Apple macOS Mail. Basically just make sure that everything matches what we have there, and that Remote Access is enabled.
The sender address email@example.com was rejected by the server mail.shaw.ca.
The server response was: Authentication required
Are you at home? Or out and about?
What SMTP server settings are you using?

no change. Can only receive email using port 110.
Not sure why this is happening now. These have been my settings for a long time.
Ok that makes sense that 110 works for receive.
When you go in to the outgoing mail server settings, and you click edit, check the advanced tab.
What port is that set to?
Try using custom port 25 and no authentication.
no change on sending. can't receive on port 25 either.
Receive should always stay as 110 as that already works for you, we should only try changing the outgoing.
Would you be able to post a screenshot of your outgoing mail settings?
Let's disable SSL on the outgoing mail.shaw.ca server.
Thanks. That seemed to work. Don't understand why I had change setting when I have been sending for months with no problem and then out of the blue with no changes to the settings at all.
