How can I make it so that my TV box doesn't automatically play after being paused for a while? Thank you
If you are using the DCX-3510 PVR, this would be normal behavior for a paused recording to resume playback automatically after about 10 minutes. If you're going to leave your recording for more than this it would be best to stop the recording.
As an aside, we've received a lot of feedback on this and we've let our software engineers know that a lot of customers don't like this feature, so it's definitely something which may be changed in a coming firmware update.
For me that would be a welcome change across all Shaw's PVR devices. Even the Gateway will start playing after a not-so-long pause. One of two things should happen after a period of time:
1) The PVR saves the buffer and continues to record the program
2) The PVR's firmware is updated to increase the size of the pause buffer. It's silly to not utilize available disk space or at least more of the space to increase the pause buffer to one or two hours... even four or more should be possible if the user has the disk space available.
Hi there adiabatic,
I definitely agree with you, I've encountered this multiple times myself. Thank you for your feedback on the matter, we'll send it along in hopes that it gets changed in a future update.
I personally like this feature. It is intended to prevent burn in on my TV. Please consider leaving it as it is or give the option in settings.
It's nice to hear you enjoy it bltedder. Preventing burn in is definitely an upside. The conversation here has been to provide an option of whether or not to have the PVR auto unpause, hopefully we are able to implement it that way.
