We would first need to determine if it is just the wifi that cut out or if it the entire internet connection.
Do you have a computer directly wired into the modem? When the wifi drops, does that hard wired computer stay online? If you don't have a computer directly connected, another way to check is whether all of the lights seem to have reset or whether it is still on 4 solid green lights.
If the modem stays online but the wifi cuts out, I would recommend logging into the modem and changing the channel frequency to 1, 6 or 11. It might be that the modem is broadcasting on a channel that has interference from your neighbours.
I have checked it with 3 laptops. They can access with the hardwire, but not the WiFi. My Nexus and ipod cannot access the WiFi either.
How do I logon to the modem? We just got connected with this system about a month ago and the technician did everything.
Just looked up how to access the modem. We don't have a password. All we have is an SSID number.
The Modem has 4 solid green lights, 2 blinking ethernet.
It looks like it's a wifi issue then.
I should've posted the link on how to change the wifi channel in my last post. Here it is now: How to Change the Wireless Channel on Your Shaw Wireless Modem. Give that a try and we'll see if there's any improvement!
I've tried loggin in several times, using the cusadmin and my passphrase. I keep getting invalid user name or password. I have done it several times to ensure I'm not making any typos. Won't work. And np about the directions.
I'd like to take a look at your modem to see if it also might be a signal issue. If you could check your inbox in the top right corner, you'll find my message.
Thanks so much for the help!! I disconnected power and cable, hit the reset button as instructed, and everything is working again!! yeah!
That's good to hear jcvdude, thanks for the update!
