How do you charge a long distance call to your home phone bill?
Hi lance, I didn't do it, I called from my cell instead since I have free Canada-wide calling. It seemed to be the simplest solution. I still appreciate all the suggestions!
Dial the number from your home phone, unless you have setup an alternate long-distance carrier, it will be billed to your home phone bill
I suppose that makes sense, but I meant from another phone, ie: make a long distance call from work phone but charge the call to home phone
That I'm not sure is possible...
Shaw does have a pre-paid calling card service, that may work for you
i called the number that shaw gave me for the pre-paid calling card service, and was told that their service wouldn't work in this situation. I have free long distance as a shaw customer. I want to call Ontario from BC during work hours, however by the time I get home from work and can make the call, the Ontario place will be closed. Easiest solution is to make the call from my work and charge the call to my home phone. I can't seem to figure out how to do this on Shaw. Telus had this option and it wasn't so complicated. I will just have to use my cell.
Probably easiest to use your cell :}
Hey, you could use the https://phone.shaw.ca page, forward your home phone number to where you want to call
Call your home number, it will forward you to Ontario, and then turn off the forwarding
I am in BC tho.
That won't matter
For what you're requesting, your Shaw Home Phone service would have to take the incoming call and route it to the number in Ontario, which is unfortunately not an available service.
I think I confused myself with your question for a second there, thanks kevinds. It actually should work if you forward your home phone to the Ontario number you're trying to call, as it'll be forwarded and ring through to it when you call your home number. It is long distance, yes, but you can call forward to long distance numbers for up to 500 minutes per month.
So this solution might just work for you and you can enable call forwarding remotely through the Phone Portal on demand here at phone.shaw.ca.

It was when you said what you now crossed out, that had me think of the call-forwarding trick
Thank you both, for all of your help!! I will try this.
Hey duckyy, did that workaround work for you? Did our phone system allow you to forward your number to that Ontario number and then make the calls?
