Does Shaw allow collect calls to their customers's phone lines?
Absolutely. You can accept collect calls on your phone line danjrudiak.
Anything needed to done to allow this to happen? (The mother-in-law was wanting to take such a call last night, I was led to believe this could not happen. Me: Techy, MinL: Not so much.)
Hmm... it's possible your line is not set to receive collect calls, but it is the default to be able to receive them. It's also possible she was calling from a provider with which we don't have an agreement (although that would be unlikely, since we have agreements with almost all providers in the country). Any idea what she heard when she tried to place the call? Something like "the number is blocked and cannot receive collect calls"?
Not sure what the experience was, but your information was most helpful.
No worries! Let us know if you hear of any other problems calling collect.
I thought collect calls and 1-900 calls were off by default,
https://phone.shaw.ca to enable ?
Billing to a third-party and 1-900 calling is definitely disabled by default, but collect calling is enabled by default.
Is there a limit to how many collect calls a person can except from a land inline?
correction to a land inline from a correction intuition
I don't believe there is a limit, at least not one set on our end. There may be other reasons why a collect call from a correctional facility could be blocked. You can find more info here: Correspondence And Telephone Communication
