I have a Motorola 3426 with pvr expander
and the new tsn channels only appear
on the SD channels 183-185 and not the
HD channels. However the HD channels work
for everything else. What is the problem here?
I know that there is much confusion over which channels will be MPEG-4. Basically, there will be 5 TSN Channels -
TSN1 - primary feed for BC, Alberta, Yukon
TSN2 - national feed
TSN3 - primary feed for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, NWT
TSN4 - primary feed for most of Ontario (excluding Ottawa and parts of southern Ontario)
TSN5 - primary feed for Ottawa, southern Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic provinces
The MPEG-2 feeds will be TSN2 and your local primary feed. The other three will be MPEG-4.
For example, I live in Vancouver so I will get TSN1 and TSN2 as MPEG-2 but the others will be MPEG-4.
The reason you are not seeing the HD feeds is that you have an older cable box not capable of displaying the channels. Some TSN channels will be in MPEG4 HD and will require MPEG4 Equipment. Standard definition (SD) channels will be available on all receivers.
Is there anywhere that lists specifically *which* channels are mpeg4, rather than just stating "some".
In the PDFs from the Channel Lineup, you can see the channels marked with "(MPEG4)" after them. This is the example for Calgary ()http://shaw.ca/uploadedFiles/Bundles/Premier_PDFs/PremierTV--Calgary.pdf
OK, I see the indicator in the channel line-up document, but it has not been updated with the new TSN channels yet.
So, my question remains: which of the new TSN channels are MPEG4?
And then I guess I have a follow-up question: what kind of a trade-up program is available for my non-mpeg4 motorola PVR to a mpeg4 PVR?
Can't say for sure, but I suspect all the new ones
