My gateway remote, which quite frankly is horrible. Keeps freezing and has stopped communicating with my Gateway . is there is no other alternative remote
Evening turnhill, sorry for your remote troubles.
That remote you've got is the only one in our arsenal which will work with the Gateway (there are third-party remotes however which can control the Gateway), but I'm sure we can get it to work properly. If not, we can arrange for it to be swapped if your Gateway is a rental or if it's under warranty (otherwise $14.95 + tax for a new one).
First thing I would suggest, would simply be to change the batteries and see if that works. Also, if you have more than one Portal, try the other remote on that Portal; it may be the Portal with the issue and not the remote.

My gateway is less then 10 months old. I hope it's still under warranty. Lol. I have changed the batteries many times but still freezes on me. I only have one portal and ordered another one online tonight. I also asked them to bring me a replacement remote for my old one.
Yes, Gateway and Portals are under warranty for 3 years from time of purchase. How would you describe the freezing, does it occur for minutes at a time? Or a shorter period?
If replacing the remote doesn't do the trick, we'd have to look at the placement of the portal (make sure it's not behind glass, or directly under a bright light), other things to check would be the TV settings for settings that can cause IR interference.
