I am unable to send mail from my Shaw account on my desk top computer, but I can receive mail. Although I can send email from my ipad and iphone shaw account.
A few questions to help find a solution:
Are you using http://webmail.shaw.ca when this happens, or are you on a dedicated email program like Outlook, Windows Mail, etc?
Are you getting an error message when you try to send, or does it just sit there and stubbornly refuse to send anything without giving any reason? If there is an error, a copy of it would be super-helpful.
You might also want to check whether you're sending any attachments. If you've got a gigantic attachment (bigger than 30 MB) on it then it won't send and sometimes doesn't give an error message back.

I am using mail for mac
When I send, I get a drop down box that says "cannot send message using the server shaw", The SMTP connection to server "mail.shaw.ca" failed.
It tells me my shaw email is offline and my shaw.ca is offline. This seems like it would be a simple fix and I have deleted the account and created it again as well. The funny thing is I can send email from my iphone and my ipad from that same shaw address.
LOL you are probably wondering why I don't have a .mac address? Well i do but I have had a shaw address for years now and just want to keep it....I have tried everything short of phoning shaw...
Simple answer, check your outgoing mail server settings, and is your desktop computer using a Shaw Cable internet connection, and didn't connect to a neighbors wireless for example.
Other than that, yes, error message would be great.
You posted that the same time I posted.
Change your outgoing email server to be shawmail.cg.shawcable.net I use cg because most of the 'regional' servers went there anyways last time i tested.
See if this helps, the mail.shaw.ca should be used on remote devices - travelling computers, phones, tablets, ect.
ok I seemed to have fixed the problem, Lord knows how but I think it may have been the SSL/ port, who knows!
Anyway thanks a bunch!
