I keep getting "add security exception" for the location

The message comes up essentially any time I send or receive messages or when Thunderbird checks for messages. Sometimes I have to press "Confirm Security Exception" multiple times to make the dialog box to go away.

but when I get to the point of accepting the changes, it gets hung up on the checking password bit and won't complete. I've enabled the Remote Access in Webmail so I'm not sure what else to do.
