My phone is not working. I did the hard reset by sticking the pin in the back, but it didn't help. There is a dial tone some of the time, but when the phone rings, or if you answer it, it cuts out.
My first thought is a short somewhere.
Try connecting a single telephone directly to the back of the phone modem or digital phone terminal (DPT), instead of the house wiring used now. If it continues to happen still, try a different telephone and wire (it may be the first telephone you connected directly).
Most likely need a service call thought.
I agree with Kevin that it might be a short in the wiring to your phone jacks. As he suggested, try putting a phone directly to the phone terminal. Information on how to do this can be found at https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1013
