how can you program the gateway to record something that is not starting for 3 weeks and is not yet listed on the guide and you will be away when it does show up
There's two ways that I would recommend -
1. If it's a weekly series, you could also set it as a series recording. That way, you will get every episode, including the one that you are interested in. More information on that can be found at Shaw Gateway - How to set a Series Recording.
2. But I'm assuming that this is a one-time event. In which case your better option would be install the Gateway Go app on your phone or tablet. This way, you don't even have to be home to set the recording! Depending on whether you have Android or Apple, you can dowload your version at Shaw Go Gateway. Of course, to have the app talk to your Gateway, your services will need to be active in your home.
Either way, I'd recommend download the Shaw Go Gateway app and give it a test drive. It's great for those times when you leave the house and then remember that you forgot to set a recording for while you're gone!
hi, thank you for the response but it doesn't solve the problem in that the program won't start till November 8 and i can't download the app as i don't have an android phone or tablet. the older pvrs let you program by date and channle and time slot but the gateway can only be programed for iweek in advance.
My only suggestion would be to borrow someone's iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
The Gateway currently doesn't allow for individual date/time specific recordings.
In your case the best advice would be what kevinds suggested, to use the Shaw Go Gateway app on any iphone, ipad, or android device sometime in late October to set the recording. Alternatively, if the program is on a major network, you should be able to watch episodes upon your return from Shaw On Demand or even the network's app/website, then set the series recording.
Sorry, it's not the most ideal solution.
Gateway application for Apple or Android phone/tablet
Is Arris looking into adding the option for recording by channel and time slot instead of base on programs only?
Other than borrowing another persons device, the other solution would be to provide a web based interface to set and manage recordings. That is not something we offer currently, but thank you for your post as it helps provide an example for a use here. I'll pass along the feedback to our product teams.
I'll throw this out there, as I use this device to watch my recordings (in addition to setting them on my non-Gateway PVR) when I am away from home: Sling.com - Slingbox M1 - How it Works ("Slingbox" is a 3rd party product).

Ali, do you actually have a Slingbox M1? I haven't been able to find them anywhere.
I have a Slingbox 350, and don't regret getting it at all
Not that particular model, but just linked to the new model I saw on the Slingbox site
