I want to add a digital box about 100 feet away from my main cable connection into the house. What is the best cable to use for this?
I think RG-11 would be best, but RG-6 should work as well
Depends what the signal strength is coming into your home
For runs shorter than 150ft we will generally use an RG6 coax.
Both cables function very much the same, but the smaller cables will attenuate the signal a little faster than the larger ones. Realistically though, the delta between the losses on RG6 and RG11 at that length aren't worth the extra hassle the RG11 will be to install.
If you're facing low signal levels at the home RG11 may be the way to go, but there is likely other issues that can be corrected to get the signal level up at the home.
I hope this helps.
