I would like to know if there is a single device coaxial splitter compatible with the Shaw Gateway, the wireless router and 6 tv outputs.
That would be an 8 way splitter, but it would depend on how strong the signal is coming into your home
Likely the way it would be wired would be a two way coming into your home
One side going to your internet modem
The other side going to a 3-way splitter, connecting to your Gateway, one portal, the 3rd leg going to a 4 way splitter for the rest of your Portals
I have a 3-way splitter connected directly to the incoming line; one line to the gateway unit, one to the modem and one to a 4-way splitter. The 4-way splitter has a line to the wireless router and 3 televisions. Can I get any 8-way splitter or do the frequency and dB ratings make a difference.
Hi there ampt,
Having a one splitter solution wouldn't work in this case unfortunately because of the way the MoCA network functions. Are you having issues with the signal going in to your house? If so, we can definitely take a look at that for you. Just let us know and we can send you a direct message to collect your account information and check how the signal looks going to your internet modem.
No, there are no issues, just trying to tidy up all the cabling. I was hoping to enclose all the coax in one panel. If one splitter is not possible can I still split the signal for more than the 3 TV's I have connected right now?
dB ratings are a big problem
So you have 9 cable devices then?
You have Shaw Telephone and Shaw internet?
But yeah, wiring is always interesting, but Shaw can wire it for as much service as you want
Right now I only have 6 devices, but would like the option of more. Plan to add one more TV in the near future. Thank you for all your info, I appreciate your time.
Oh ok! The only concern we have with you changing the way your splitters are all set up is that you have a Gateway and changing the way the splitters are set up means you might have to change the way the MoCA filters are set up. If this is done improperly, you will experience issues with your Gateway system, and may even cause issues with our network outside of your house.
If you're looking to streamline the way the signal is split in to your house, I'd highly recommend having us book a service tech out to make sure all the MoCA filters are set up properly. If you'd like us to book something, please let us know.
I would appreciate an appointment with a service tech. I would like the ability to add more devices to my system and don't want any self caused preventable problems. Than you for your tome and expertise.
Sounds good! I'll send you a direct message to get your account information so we can look in to booking this for you. Please check your Community Inbox shortly.
