I Received a flyer from shaw today that offers Personal TV. What is this as compared to cable?
Good evening diani,
Personal TV the name for our new starter cable package, similar in some ways to the older "Basic" cable package but more easy to customize/add more channels to. You can learn more about Personal TV here:

Ok so it also talks on the flyer about this kind of tv being accessible from Shaw Go Wifi. So does that mean I could use my ipad to watch tv anywhere I go that shaw go works? Do I watch this tv by downloading apps for each channel? Could I just watch tv like this from in the house on my ipad and not need the HD box?
could I watch tv on the apps with personal tv? does personal tv include NHL hockey games? Local news channels? Could I get both or either of those through the apps? I like HGTV. Is it on an app? Does it come on personal tv?
thanks for answering all of these questions. I am trying to decide what to go with in my new house. All I ever needed in the past was internet, but I am finding I would like to watch a bit of tv from time to time too.
Some TV content (more is being added all the time) can be watched on the go through our collection of TV Apps, and you can find a complete list of the Apps available in our App Index.
With Shaw Go Wifi, you will get internet access and can use these Apps when connected to any of our many hotspots. Right now most of the Apps are an extension of your cable TV package - so you'll still need a TV package and at least one digital cable box to use the Apps.
There isn't an App for HGTV (yet!) but HGTV is included in Personal TV (if you'd like to find out exactly what channels come included you can check out www.shaw.ca/yourchannels).
If you're a hockey fan, some of the NHL games will be included on local channels included but you may want to add on some sports channels as well, with Personal TV that's always easy to do.
Also worth mentioning here, our new shomi streaming service just launched. If you have Shaw internet you can get shomi and it doesn't require a separate cable TV package at all. You can learn more about shomi here:
