Can you accept collect phone calls with Shaw telephone? If so is there a place to find out the method. Thank you.
Hi there gmt.bc,
Thanks for taking the time to post to the Community! Yes, you should be able to accept collect calls to your Shaw land-line telephone. The caller will just have to dial "0" to reach an operator, and follow the prompts on the line and make the collect call to you. Please keep in mind that the collect call's long distance rates are not based on your Shaw home phone's long distance rates, and are based on the caller's phone's long distance rates.
If the collect caller finds that they are unable to place calls to your Shaw Home Phone, then you may need to contact us to turn on collect calling. This is generally turned on by default when we set up your phone service for you, though.
I thought you had to turn on Collect-Calling as part of the 1-900 block in the phone Portal?
Yes, you can also turn on collect calling by enabling "1-900 Calling" in the Phone Portal. gmt.bc. You can login there using your "My Account" username + password. Thanks for pointing that out kevinds.
