I have this message pop up that says I have an unwanted program called Adware-BProtect. I can't delete it as when I try to I am told Access Denied.
Good morning jbuckler
Adware-BProtect is apparently malware, so you're on the right track with trying to remove it. I'd recommend running a security scan with whichever antivirus program you're currently using. Which operating system and security software are you using (for example, Windows 7 with Shaw Secure)?
I am not sure what windows I am running but McAfee (shaw download) is blocking this program but it is on my computer and it is making my computer run so slow. I am now running malware and it is finding it but and when it identifies the program I delete them but it just keeps running and the programs don’t seem to be deleted.
When you say your'e now running malware, do you mean you are running an alternate malware removal program?
In case you haven't tried it already, Malware Bytes is a reliable (third party) program for removing these types of things. Here's a link to download that: Malwarebytes | Download
yes that is what I am running. I check on the Shaw help blog for information and it was recommended to run this program, So it is running and running and running and has been for about an hour. Should it be taking this long?
Okay, sounds good. Thanks for confirming that.
Malware Bytes can take a long time to scan, especially if you're running a Full scan. As long as it's still going then it's best to wait for it to finish. If it doesn't work, I'd recommend rebooting your computer in Safe Mode and then running a scan again. We have instructions on how to do that here: How to boot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking (Windows).
Thanks, I will wait another hour then try the Safe Mode.
