I changed my password for logging into my cisco modem and I can't remember it how do I reset it?
You'll need to restore the modem to it's default settings, then you'll be able to use the login info listed on it again. Here's how to do so: Wireless Connectivity Troubleshooting. Be sure to follow the steps under 'Solution 2: Restore the Wireless Modem'
ok so it reset and I can log into my modem but it wont let me change my password for logging into my wifi this is all that comes up
I try to drop down the wireless security mode but nothing comes up I hit save settings and cancel settings and it just stays on this same screen I've clicked enable to nothing happens
Just to verify, are you logging in with a computer directly connected to the wifi modem or by wifi?
on the computer connected to the modem
Under WLAN, you should be able to check the box next to enable, then change the Pre-Shared Key, which is the wireless password.
If this doesn't work, you may want to try another browser, such as Google Chrome.
anytime I click enable or disable and click save it stays the on the same thing I'm not getting the preshared key at the bottom I can navigate to all the other tabs but I can't save anything I'm downloading google chrome to see if that works I'll let you know right now my wifi is sitting open when I connect to it on my phone when I try to connect with my computer it asks for the password and the passphrase works to connect on my computer
ah ha! google chrome worked thank you! so if I need to change my wifi password again I have to do it under google chrome every time?
Glad to hear it! Using Chrome for most of our products is actually preferred if possible.
All the best to you over the holidays!
i forgot my wifi password is there a way i can retrive or reset to factory settings ?
If you don't remember the password, you can do a factory reset on the modem. On the back you should see a pin hole reset. Press and hold this for at least 30 seconds. You should then be able to log in using the default login information on the sticker.
