I am unable to recieve calls from Bell customers in Ontario and Qubec. "Call cannot be compoeted as dialed". This only started to happed when I changed to Shaw telephone. All other phone companies work fine.
As a piece of troubleshooting advice for people in these sorts of situations. When a customer is unable to receive calls and it is only affecting one carrier the trouble tends to lie with the translations the original carrier has in place. Shaw will attempt to remedy the situation for its customers however the best results is when the originating customer calls to report the issue to their carrier as the changes have to be done on their network. In this case if you kept your phone number when you switched to Shaw, one of two things are happening.
1. Your number still exists on your previous carrier. This would tend to cause failures to most inbound callers whom attempt to reach you.
2. The originating carrier is missing a translation for routing calls to you. This would only affect a single carrier. Either your Phone Number or the LRN (used when you move your number to a new provider) is not correctly being routed. In this case those callers would have issues calling any one with a similar number (either the same LRN, or the same prefix).
I will leave this for Ali to look into for you but felt it is something worthwhile knowing as we do see quite a few of these situations come up.
I'm not going to be able to add much to help, but you might be able to answer some questions that they will ask, before they do
Is there any other carriers other than Bell that you can, or can not receive calls from the Ontario and Qubec provinces (Rogers, Videotron, Cogeco, as examples)?
How many people have tried calling you, and how many cities were these attempts made?
Are you able to call them, but they unable to call you?
All other carriers work fine from these Provinces.
I can call all the numbers but they cannot call me.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Are they able to call other Shaw phone numbers?
Is yours a Ported number? Or a Native Shaw number?
[shaw]ali Are you able to help with this now that you are online?
We'll send you a PM and if you could reply with your account information we'll take a further look in to this for you.
Thanks for your help with this kevinds - realize there are limitations of how far you can troubleshoot but appreciate your efforts nonetheless!
Answers I know will be important to whomever is able to fix the issue, and gets them out of the way early on.
Thanks very much for your help .
Unforunately there is no change to the problem.
