hello, i have very high packet loss. it makes gaming near impossible! what can i do to fix this issue?
There's many factors that can cause high ping. Poor signal from outlet to modem, wifi interference.
Our guide at How to troubleshoot slow Internet speeds may not be 100% applicable to your case but it does have some useful information for you.
Is your computer directly connected to the modem or wifi through a router? Is there anything else running on your computer that could be causing issues, such as a torrent program? If you have a Shaw wifi modem, what happens to packet loss if other devices are turned off?
Hello thank you for getting back to me
I have a cisco dpc3825 box routed through a linksys e2500
The xbox one is telling me when i run a diagnostic that i am experiencing 100 percent packet loss.
Download speed 26.3 Mpbs
Upload 2.67 Mpbs
These are the xbox numbers via a wired connection
The laptop wired shows 0 percent packet loss
Download speed 24.09
What i am trying to do is have 0 percent packet loss on the xbox one.
I think ive figured out thst i need to use a static ip and forwarded ports in order to solve this. Are you aware of how to do this or whether or not that will work?
As you are using your own router here, do you know if we have bridged your Cisco modem yet?
Also, what happens when you temporarily disconnect your Linksys router and test with a direct connection to the modem?
I am having the same issue as the previous user. I followed the thread and none of the suggestions have corrected the issue. This is not an xbox or ps4 issue as they are both being effected by this high packet loss. With the xbox connected either wirelessly or wired, I am seeing a 79% packet loss.
I am also experiencing network issues on the PCs in the house, it is only made worse when you are using a console.
I am paying for 120 service and getting network usability as if I had a 56 kb modem.
Thank you for reaching out to us and sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. Can you send us a couple of ping test results here so we may take a further look into this? Where are you seeing the packet loss, is it to certain websites or servers or is it to all? Definitely let us know so we may further assist you with this.
