i was watching tv when my screen guide stopped working then went black, after a few minutes I have tried resetting the Box (unplugging and replugging) and now it says OFLn which I assume means offline. How do I fix this and why is it happening?
Hi there andyh,
Yup, I can confirm that rebooting the units affected is resolving the issue at this time. If anybody still has this error message on the front of the DCT, please unplug the power cable from the back of the box, wait 15 seconds then plug it back in. Then wait about 5 minutes for the time to appear on the front of the box. Once you have the time on the front, power it back on and you should be back to your regularly scheduled programming.
TThe exact same thing happened to me. Still can't get it to come back online.
Me too, just now.
Still have Shaw Internet though
I'm also having the same problem - Vancouver.
Lead up was that the PVR was extremely slow responding to any to any commands. Even typing the channel could take several minutes to come up. The guide has mostly To Be Announced for shows. Paging through was extremely slow. So I did a complete power down (same as orig. poster. Unplug, wait 2-3 minutes, plug in). It went through the normal boot process. Then go to PSld and switched to CnEr. weent back and forth a couple of times until it went to OFLn and stayed there. When I power on the TV & PVR all I get is a black screen.
My Shaw internet seems to be working just fine. N0 issues there.
My lead up was exactly the same as yours, to the letter.
same here. coquitlam
my too surrey
Mine Did the same thing about 1/2 an hour ago - Parksville after unplugging and plugging in says OfLn
yep same here!! No service interupt notice yet. Service is definately interupted. New west.
Did you unplug the HD Box and after a few minutes, plug the unit back. Usually this fixes any issue but I still have the OFLn display. I unplug it twice and still the same result. The problem started at about 1 pm here also
I have Unplugged and plugged back in 3 times goes though the entire boot sequence then states Ofln. Ours went offline around 1Pm as well
I haven't watched the TV since the Canucks won last night.
I went to use it today and the Menu and everything was slow for a response.
I have unplugged the box and waited for a while as one would do with a router and then reconnected the power. Now it is saying OFLn. Is there a fix to this or are we to spend a whole lot of time on the phone?
Location - Maple Ridge BC
There is also a long wait for the chat support so not sure which would be better. Usually it's faster using chat support. Even if you do get a reply I'm almost certain the response is they are working on it as fast as possible to get the box back online
Confirmed - receiving OFLn error in Langley as well. Have rebooted, unplugged (Coax and Power) several times. Seems something's up at the Shaw end.
A service bulletin has been posted. They are advising to not reboot.
Do you have a link to the service bulletin?

[Resolved] HD Guide and Gateway No Picture/Video On Demand Access
My Arris box in my living room is the only one that I am having problems with. My older pvr in my bedroom works fine. So frustrating when this happens. TV in Bedroom sucks lol
I talked to someone over the phone. He said there is nothing he can do, it's happening all over BC. Just have to wait it out....
I am experiencing the same on Vancouver Island. I wished I had seen the posts not to reboot. Hopefully when all is fixed our boxes will work too
Hi Folks, the alert is for Vancouver Island as well: Lower Mainland/Vancouver Island - HD Guide Issues We will update there, and again, sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for the update, [shaw]noah!
Oh no......I just saw the posts not to reboot or unplug. Of course, I did both. Guess I'll wait and see what happens when issue is fixed and hopefully things will be ok.
System across the Lower Mainland and the Island is down. Do not unplug the cable box as this seems to cause them even more headaches...
Here's the notice...
Lower Mainland/Vancouver Island - HD Guide Issues
Same problem (OFLn) in North Vancouver. At least it's a nice day for a stroll!
Yep, and I rebooted before reading this forum as well...
it says if ya reboot it wont "break " anything it will just take them longer to fix the prob... I think everyone tried to reboot lol.. me included.
Usually that's an awesome first step for any issues with the cable boxes. But in this case, unfortunately it may cause issues with it. We're working on getting this issue patched up ASAP, and I'll leave any updates I get in regards to the progress of the outage in the thread that has been linked above. Thanks for your patience!
My PVR is also down for the last few hours...I live in New West and only ask if there is a timeline on the fix? This is not an emergency of course...but a frustration. Thanks
Perhaps a quicker message/alert telling your valued customers that there was/is a problem could have prevented us from rebooting.
I thought I'd let people know that things are working for me now. I had tried the unplug for 60 secs a few times earlier today but couldn't get things working. I tried again about 20 minutes ago and everything is working again. When I plugged back in, the HD box went through it's paces...BOOT, blank, BOOT, OCAP, APP, current time. Once I saw that, I turned the power on with the remote and things are normal again. Someone mentioned they couldn't use the guide button on the remote but hopefully that is just a matter of making sure the button on the remote is cbl and not tv. Got shows to watch now!! Ciao
Rebooting or Unplugging your Box won't break it, but may slow down the problem resolution in this particular case. So if you've already done it, don't worry. Just leave it as is for now (OFLn).
Hi there jackson607,
Unfortunately at this time we do not have an ETA as to when it will be resolved, but definitely check back to the service alert as that is where we will be posting any updates we receive.
Very sorry that we didn't get that out soon enough for you. Rebooting it won't ruin the unit or anything, but at this time we've been advised to let customers know to not reboot their units.
The system looks like it's online again. I rebooted my PSVR and after waiting a few minutes, the machine is working again! No more OFLn!
Thanks for the update Brayden
All up and running here in Maple Ridge.
Thanks for the update! maybe SHAW will give us a free preview movie channel for our inconvenience down time since raising rates this year as well ..?
No problem about the update, glad it all works for you! I second the motion that Shaw offers a preview channel (maybe Encore Avenue) for a few weeks after all this!
Back up in Langley. Tried another reset after a few users reported success. Cheers!
