For this equipment on several TVs to work do you need a cable outlet in every room where you want to watch TV or just one outlet for the main hookup?
Cable outlet is needed for every portal which will be connected to TV.
I wanted to take the opportunity to clarify the Gateway System's connection a bit further. cio-pao is right - a cable outlet is required in reach room where you'd like a TV with digital cable to be. Each TV would need a Portal, which is the receiver that connects to the main "control centre" terminal, called the Gateway. The technician who would install the Shaw Gateway System would create a network in your home using your existing coaxial cabling and outlets, which would provide each Portal with a strong signal from the Gateway.
A more detailed explanation of the Gateway System's features and hardware is available in the document here: Hardware Information - Portal / Gateway. There's also some information available at http://www.shaw.ca/store/tv/tvEquipmentDetails.jsp.
I hope this information helps!
Hardly worth the effort in my case not enough cable outlets (have one that doesn't work anyway). Better if there was a Wi-Fi system.
