When my STB shows it's 40% full I try to set a new recording and am told there isn't enough room for the new show. Why?
the reason why you keep getting the warning is because the gateway isn't managing the storage.
when the recordings are set to "keep until I delete" - the green dot, you are managing your storage. It will warn you but as you mentioned the recordings aren't missed. If you were to keep what the gateway see's as scheduled in the future, and not delete anything after you watch it, the gateway storage will likely be full after the two weeks if all it did was record.
when the recordings are set to keep until space is needed - yellow exclamation, no warnings pop up as the gateway manages the storage and will remove older titles to make storage available for new ones.
just wanted to give you that extra info so you understand how that works, and why you keep receiving the warning.
It will do that if your other recordings will have filled the drive before this one records.
It takes into account your other scheduled recordings I think
Also, do your recordings have a green dot on them, or yellow exclamation?
I ignore the warning to record the show I want. It does so and I then watch it when I want. I get a green dot when it's finished recording. Red while recording. I don't think I have ever missed a recording by ignoring the warning.
Thanks to you all for your replies.
I'm a happy camper viewer.
Enjoy your Sunday.
