PVR not recording

For the past three days our PVR has suddenly stopped recording. We have tried to record at the time of a program, even though it still shows that it is to be recorded, and when doing this we get a pop-up message that states; DVR SERVICE UNAVAILABLE DVR service is not available or currently disabled. Please call your cable operator. 1-888-472-222 Has anyone out there had this same experience, and if so, have you found out how to resolve the problem?
