I have a Cisco CP3285 Modem will a change to Advanced WiFi Modem (SBG6782) give better and more consistent speed?
If you are using WiFi (wireless internet) - the SBG6782 is considered a more powerful modem with regards to the WiFi capability built-in to the device, so over WiFi you may notice a stronger signal and better WiFi connectivity in certain parts of your home. With wired connections - the speed would be the same between both modems.
Keep in mind that nobody can guarantee speeds over wifi. It uses public radio spectrum, has to accept interference from other devices, and depends on your home construction.
Also: if your devices do not support 5GHz you will not see much of a speed improvement. You may, however, see range improvement.
So yes: it features better and more powerful wifi, but your experience may vary.
Thanks for pointing this out corbin! Words of wisdom. If you're doing anything "mission critical" (ie online gaming ) that requires a consistent connection in order to work properly 100% of the time, wired is the way to go!
