How can I access my Smart TV menu with my gateway remote?
With the Gateway remote, unfortunately there is no functionality built in that will allow you to access your television's settings or Smart TV menu. The Gateway remote would allow you to change your volume on the television or change inputs only. If you have not programmed your Gateway remote to your television for volume control yet, take a look at URC's support page (the manufacturer of the remote) found here. To access your Smart TV's menu system, it is best to use the original remote that had came with the television.
Hi Ken. You say the Gateway remote will allow you to change inputs on your tv. Please explain how as I've never seen a button for this on the remote. I have a Sony tv.
You are correct. I believe what shaw-ken meant was Power and Volume on the TV, not changing Inputs.
It's unfortunate that this remote is so limited. There's no reason to have a downgraded remote when upgrading to Gateway. One of the things that always bothered me.
Hopefully this will change in the near future.
FYI the remote on the new Gateway (XG1) has replaced the 'Enter' key next to the keypad with an 'Input' key. You can now change inputs on your TV. I do it constantly myself.
Note: this is only on the remote included with the XG1, not the MG5225G. AFAIK the newer remote is not available separately.
