How do I delete contacts from auto complete on Webmail 2.0?
In Webmail 2.0, near the top right side,
Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Preferences
Emailed Contacts on the left side,
Checkmark the ones you want to remove, and Delete above the list.
I should have clarified, these are not people that are in my contacts, they are simply email addresses I have used once but no longer require'
'Contacts' are listed in the Contacts list, the non-contacts that auto-complete on their own, are listed in the Emailed Contacts list.
That's what I thought too, but I have at least 10 addresses in my auto complete that aren't in my 'emailed contacts' list, very odd....
I didn't look that closely at it, all of my non-contacts that show for auto-complete addresses, that I checked where in there.
What about your Sent Items folder, could it be getting them from there?
No matter what I try to do I can't delete contacts from auto complete. I've gone that step further and searched all my emails in Shaw webmail and could not find where the contact information is being taken from. Many of these auto complete contacts are incorrect and obsolete and need to be deleted or blocked. But how??
Sorry to hear about the troubles. I just tested this on my account. To confirm, these are the steps you are following?
1. Log into webmail
2. Click "Contacts" at the top
3. Find the contact you are looking to delete and click on the box next to their name
4. After the delete option will appear and once you click that it should be gone.
If you don't see this, I would try it on another browser. Or if I misunderstood the process you are doing, please let me know!
Thanks for your reply. I have done what you've suggested many times. The obsolete emails that I am trying to delete do not show up, neither on my Contact list, nor the Emailed Contacts. There is no place where I can find them in order to delete them. However, when I begin to type out these particular individuals names in the "To" window on a new email, the obsolete email addresses pop up for them. Thinking that the Webmail program is picking up the email addresses from a saved email, I have searched through all my folders to find them someplace, but it seems that they are not connected with any saved emails.
That is very odd. Do these emails auto populate before you finish writing them or do they simply give you the option to add them in as you are typing in a different email address? Maybe they pop up below as something you can click on?
I just want to be sure of how that is coming up.
They come up as an option to add them as I am typing in an email address that starts with the same first letters, something that I can click on. It's just annoying to have them show up since I have a number of correct email addresses that are almost the same as these obsolete ones, and I often end up selecting the incorrect, obsolete ones. I would really like to be able to clear all the obsolete ones out of Webmail, I just don't know how to do this.
I can totally understand how it can be frustrating if you previously entered in an incorrect/obsolete email. You can certainly "forget" the email. When you type the first few letters in, you will see the option to forget the email address. This will reset the ranking based on how often you send them emails. I have an illustration below:
Let me know if that helps.

Webmail does not give me the option to "forget" an email address. This does not pop up like you show in your illustration.
Hmmn, that's super odd. Just want to check - did you go into the "Trash" section to permanently delete any email contacts that have been moved there?
