For some reason I'm getting about 10 emails returned to me a day, saying failed delivery to email addresses I've never emailed. So I clearly have a virus. If I change my password will that help? How do I change my password?
To change your email password,
After logging in, CHANGE PASSWORD at the top, white letters, blue background.
It is also possible, someone else is sending emails, using your email address as the From: causing them to come back to you, because the other server sees that you sent them. Known as backscatter.
Your computer 'may not' be the cause of these errant emails as kevinds suggested but to ease your mind I suggest you update your Anti Virus and run a full system scan. You might also want to run some anti spyware (lots of good free SW on the Net). One of the sneaky things about a virus, on an infected system, is it may use any address in an address book as the 'sender' making you think it is your system that has the issue which may not be the case.
Step One for me is to ensure my own system is virus and spyware free.
Step Two; I then email some of my most used contacts and politely suggest they run their AV as I 'admit' my system 'may' be infected and apologize for the possible virus even when it is not my fault.
You would be surprised how many people do not know if their AV has actually scanned anything lately, if it is up to date or if they even have AV.
Knowing your own system is virus free turns a concern into a small annoyance.
