I have ordered the Pay For View for UFC tonight and it's streaming intermittently. I can't get a clear a call support on the telephone as they voicemail says there are system problems. Am I the only having this difficulty? What do I do?
IS it on gateway? If so my suggestion is to record the channel and play the recording.
i am watching the same channel 300 on gateway and no issues for the signal itself. If you can provide more info, that would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully you've already gotten this figured out and you've been watching the fights, but if not or for the future when ordering a pay per view on the Gateway and it doesn't work, you can try channeling up and then back down again. If it shows you the option to order again, place it and then channel up/down again. You should not be charged twice although to be sure I would recommend you contact us or request a direct message from myself or another mod after a couple of days (to allow any orders placed from the cable box to show up in our system).
Hello Matt: The intermittent streaming continued (which was terribly frustrating to watch)... we tried a whole host of 'triage' tactics... changing the channel, turning the box on/off. As I mentioned, we did try to phone Shaw Support for some help but it seemed that Shaw had issues as well. I will call them on Monday to see what can be done from a customer service standpoint. thanks for trying to help.
CAn you let us know what set top box you have. Was it a pace, motorola or gateway box?
Definitely frustrating to try and watch when it's intermittently coming through, but I can follow up with you on that. I've sent you a direct message.
Matt, It is interesting that someone advised to record. We had the pvr set up to record the ufc tonight, got home and it only recorded 10 minutes. Called shaw, waited 40 minutes. Tried to tell the rep and all he could say was it was illegal and against federal law for us to be recording and thats why it shut down. EXCUSE ME…We have been doing this for years so whats really up???
I always ask which law, and which statute is being broken, doesn't matter who, but they then always seem to switch to a different excuse. Whenever you are being written a ticket for breaking a law, they can/will allways tell you the law you are breaking.
WHat pvr do you have?
I was the one who advised to record it.
The rep was mistaken, and we apologize for that.
Shaw is one of the very few cable companies that does not block UFC PPV recording. While theoretically recording the event should work, it is not supported on a official capacity by Shaw.
Initially the gateway builds adhered to drm rules and prevented recording, but as of 7.0.4 code (latest one everyone is running), that was lifted to match Legacy box behavior.
Let us know what pvr you have. I may be able to explain if you have the gateway.
It is a Motorola dct6416iii from shaw
The legacy boxes should have worked with recording. I am assuming there was space on the hard drive to record and everything else with the box is healthy? The reason why i ask this is the 6416 phase 3 is an older box.
If all your other recordings are fine on a day to day basis, it could have been something that happened with the authorization that was sent to the set top box. We'll ask one of the mods to contact you via dm and figure this all out.
Great..Thanks for your help Mark. Yes, lots of room, and all other recordings up to now have been fine. Have a great night!
