I have been able to access my shaw email directly on my android device but i cannot access my shaw calender. How do i sinc the calender to the device?
Sorry for the late reply on this; it looks like we missed your question. You can ensure that your calendar is synced by going into Settings, selecting Accounts and Sync, selecting your Shaw account, then making sure there's a check mark in Sync Calendar.
If this doesn't work to sync your calendar though, try removing and re-adding your account with the steps here:
How to setup email on an Android device
Let me know if this works for you
Thanks for following up. I am still struggling with this issue so I appreciate the help. Before I follow your second suggestion of removing and re-adding the account, I would like to understand the first option better. I presume your instructions begin with accessing the Shaw customer care centre website? I cannot find "Select accounts and sync" or a place to look for the check mark in that area. If your instructions are referring to the Shaw calender site itself, I have tried the Sync option in the drop down menu - but no success. Can you guide me further?
Hi, sorry I should have clarified that the first option was on your phone. I've got Ice Cream Sandwich on mine, but I think the menu options should be identical or at least very similar if you have another version of the Android OS. So to recap, you just want to be sure first that Calendar Sync is enabled first on your device through:
Settings>Accounts and Sync>Select your Shaw Account>Ensure that Sync Calendar is selected
So hopefully it's not and you can just enable it there, but if that fails, then you can try removing and re-adding the account from your phone (again through Accounts and Sync). When you do that I would also recommend that you remove your device from Webmail too. You can do that with the following steps:
1. Sign into Webmail at http://webmail.shaw.ca
2. Click Preferences in the top-right
3. Click Mobile Devices on the left
4. Select your device from the list and click the Remove option
5. Sign out of Webmail and then re-create your account on your device
Hopefully one of these options will help you sync your calendar going forward, but let me know if you're still having issues.
sorry but I am still not connecting with my calender. Have tried the first steps you described with the android device. All appears to be set up correctly and syncs properly. My Shaw account is accessed via "Microsoft Exchange Activesync." Does this mean anything?
Secondly, I never set up an account through webmail for the andriod device. Should I do that?
Hi again jkirbyson
Definitely a bit odd that you're still having this problem syncing your calendar; Exchange ActiveSync is the correct service. I would definitely check in Webmail to make sure that your device is showing up. To check this follow my second set of steps:
4. If you see your device listed, select it and remove it (this isn't something you set up separately it should just show up when you create the account on your Android). If you don't see it listed though, delete the account from your Android device, recreate it and then check again to make sure it shows up in Webmail
I've tested doing this on my phone and it worked immediately (although there wasn't a problem to begin with of course). Please let me know though if it's still not working for you, as we may need to take a closer look with your account, so I would need to send you a private message.
Thanks for working so hard on this. Unfortunately I am still stuck. I have followed all your directions, deleted and reset up the account and checked in the webmail account settings. The emails work but the calender still does not. ( In the interim, I have synced the device with Gmail calender - could that be the problem?) . It is interesting that my shaw calender details do not show up on the webmail calender. So I would appreciate any more help to get the calender working.
Pretty weird that it's still not syncing, for sure. I'll send you a private message so I can take a closer look at this.
Thanks for all your help Matt. I am up and running on webmail calender now with all your help on the private message details. I appreciate you following through on this.
