If you signed up for a free trial period of shomi, check your invoice because shaw is charging you for it even if you don't want it. They don't let you know when the free trial period is over!
A simple notification could be sent out to notify that your free trial period will be over, and do you want to continue or cancel.
With shomi, you do need to sign up for it in order to receive the promotional trial period. You can cancel at anytime. Once the promotional period has elapsed, it will bill as any other normal service. I have sent a PM to your Community Inbox if you wish to PM us to unsubscribe.
If I'm not mistaken, the expiration date of the free trial is shown after you sign up. Also, you know what day you signed up and how long the free trial is, you can do that math quite easily.
It's like any other service with a trial (Netflix for example). Unless you cancel, you will stay subscribed and be billed accordingly.
Shaw has done nothing shady.
I'm sure they will be happy to cancel it and refund you, assuming you were charged very recently.
