Can I set the "watch cable" button on my URC2025 to simply turn the TV on/off but not also turn the Cable Box off?
Yes, assuming that the Watch Cable button is already powering both your TV and cable box on when pressed, you should be able to do this by following these steps:
1. Press and hold SETUP until the MODE key blinks twice then release.
2. Press WATCH CABLE key.
3. Press the TV button (be sure to press no other device keys if you wish to only have the TV powered on when WATCH CABLE is pressed)
4. Press and hold the SETUP key until the mode key blinks twice.
I tried that - with both TV & cable box already ON - but it still turned both off. Then I tried it with both OFF with the same result. I just got this box & remote yesterday & did the Watch TV set-up then and entered both TV & cable box - not realizing what the result would be. Do I have to go back to blank slate, i.e., clear the first setup, before I can make it TV only? If so, how do I do that? BTW, I assume if the blue light is off on the cable box that the box will not record scheduled programs. The only reason I want the box to stay on is to PVR scheduled shows.
just went back & tried Watch TV button again - it now just turns TV on/off - but the remote no longer seems to control the cable box. I tried holding the cable box button down as the sheet recommends, but no change. Do I just have to go back to having Watch TV turn both off/on & then turn cable box back on by itself?
After testing this out it looks like the steps I provided did not work. Sorry for that, this is one of our newer remotes I'm still getting acquainted with myself.
To power the TV only On/Off (without also powering the cable box On/Off), you will not be able to use the Watch Cable button but would instead need to press the TV button followed by Power. The Watch Cable button cannot be used to power the TV alone On/Off.
If your remote is no longer functioning as it was previously, please repeat the steps I provided above but in step 3 you will need to press TV as well as Cable buttons and let me know if you're still having trouble.
I tried that - setup Watch TV with both TV & cable buttons selected - but the Cable doesn`t seem to take so all the remote does when I press Watch TV is turn the TV on & off. I can`t get a cable menu even after I press the Cable button as the sheet suggests. So this is worse than before we started. Other ideas?
Please try reprogramming the Cable button:
1) Press CABLE
2) Press and hold Setup until you see two quick flashes
3) Enter 1376
You should be able to control the cable box menus again.
tried that - a couple of times - remote still doesn`t work, can`t get a cable menu on the TV. is this the right code for DCX 3510-M 500GB?
Yes, 1376 is the correct code for your PVR. To confirm here, you have both your TV and cable box powered on and you are seeing a channel displayed, but the remote will no longer change the channel or bring up the guide/menus, or power the cable box on and off?
Yes - TV & cable box on. TV has picture & sound (assume that`s what you mean by channel displayed - or did you mean channel number displaying on the cable box?). Remote no longer controls cable, i.e., does things you listed.
Can I get you to try one more thing here? (this should clear all custom programming, essentially resetting the remote)
1) Press and hold Setup until you see two quick flashes
3) Enter 980
If you still cannot control the cable box, please try programming it for your PVR one more time:
Please let me know how that goes!
tried that twice - didn`t work. NB first part showed steps 1 & 3 - should there have been a 2?
Just a typo, should have been 1 and 2.
That's really odd though that you're not able to control the cable box at all at this point.
When you press the Cable button, does it flash once? If it does, then does it also flash when you press the Guide button or Channel Up button?
And yet nothing! Alright, still a couple more things we can try here.
First, remove the power from the back of the cable box for 30 seconds, plug it back in and then try the remote again.
If this doesn't work then try pressing the A button and the Setup button on the remote simultaneously until CBL flashes twice. Then give it another shot.
If all that is failing, then any chance you have another Shaw remote available to try?
We might just have to get you a new remote.
I`ve unplugged & replugged the cable box - it says ``boot``. should I wait til it runs through all the messages & looks normal before I try the remote?
It ran thru messages, went back to current time & I tried the remote - It Worked!
Now tell me - if the cable is turned off, i.e. blue light is off, but current time still shows, will it still PVR the scheduled shows?
Nice! Glad it's controlling the cable box now.
If you're concerned about shows being recorded while the PVR is off, then no need to worry; it'll still switch on to record anything you have scheduled. It's actually never technically 'off', as much as it's in a standby mode.
OK - now I know that & you guys know the Watch Cable won`t (shouldn't) turn only the TV on/off - so neither you guys or any of your other customers will ever have to discuss this again.
Have a good rest of the day.
And that's why forums are awesome! Have a good one too.
Hi Matt, can you guide me?
I have this remote and want to "unlock" the input button.
Right now i have to set it for 1 device, but i want to use it from the selected devices.
There's any way to do this?
