I have many movies and tv shows recorded on my shaw motorola pvr.
Can I take the pvr to the tv in our motorhome and play them there?
Hi topman & kevinds,
Due to licensing agreements, we can't publicly support third party recording devices in this manner on our official support forum. Very sorry about that! Please feel free to add eachother as friends and discuss this over DM.
Or is there any way to get the tv shows/movies off the pvr?
The PVR must have active cable signal during power-up in order to view the recordings, if you move your PVR to your motorhome, plug it in there using a long coax cable, as long as it doesn't lose power during your trip, you could continue to use it.
To get the shows off, you could use a DVD recorder, or similar, to make a copy of them.
'Play' them into the recording device, and record
Due to licensing agreements, we can't support accessing recordings from a PVR without an active cable connection, or transferring the recordings to another device.
kevinds has suggested some good workarounds that may be helpful though!
Funny that only Shaw cable PVRs (mind you I haven't tried Telus DSL, only Telus Satellite ones), have this restriction, the other PVRs I have used around here can be turned on without RF signal, and playback recordings fine
Now it looks as though I will have to invest in a DVD recorder.
Also look at a 'capture' device, to record the stuff to your computer, and then burn to DVD, may be cheaper as well.
There are many, many options
I am open to any options.
Can you elaborate re: "capture device"? Other options?
