My email in Outlook on my computer is all gone due to a hard derive crash. The tech said the hard drive Is done. There are some important emails that I need in those folders. How can I get the email from my computer restored to my Webmail?
If there is no way to get your PST file recovered from your hard drive,
When you log into webmail, are any of your old messages showing?
Try right clicking on the Trash, looking for Recover Deleted Emails, that might help you out, but the chances are small...
I'm sorry to hear that you may have lost some important emails due to computer troubles. Unfortunately, if you are unable to recover the lost Outlook email files on your computer and you are not seeing your old emails on Webmail either (and the Recover Deleted Emails command already suggested by kevinds did not restore them), you will not be able to recover these emails.
To avoid having this happen again in the future, you may want to change the setting within Outlook to Leave a Copy of Message on Server. This is especialy important if you are not making regular backups of your Outlook email files on your computer. This will have Webmail retain a copy of emails (for backup) even after they are downloaded to your mail program.
(The downside to this is that Webmail may exceed its storage limit (1GB) if all emails are being retained there. This means you may need to periodically check Webmail to delete unimportant emails to ensure that your storage does not fill up and you continue to receive new emails.)
If you would like to have a copy of emails retained on Webmail, instructions can be found in the following support document under Additional Information for changing this setting Outlook 2007. Because you will want to have emails left on the server (Webmail), ensure that "Leave a copy of messages on the server" is checked.
