Curious, does it work (change channels) if you turn off your TV?
Turn it on, try changing channels, if it doesn't work, turn off just your TV, and then try changing channels again, and turn your TV back on, see if the channel changed.

What brand is the tv?
There are a number of tv's with "Features" that end up creating Infrared interferance that causes problems with universal remotes.
Here are some tv's and some features that can cause that.
ABS: MENU → Picture → Advanced Picture Settings → Auto Brightness Sensor = Off. There is an ambient light sensor in your TV (turns the brightness of the TV down when the room gets darker), that need to be turned off.
