Just got a new DCX3510 and have been getting "offline mode" messages. What does this mean and why am I getting them?
I think it means it has lost the data connection to Shaw, guide information and stuff like that, has a modem similiar to the internet modems, I believe if it looses the data-link, it gives you an offline message.
Why, if this is indeed what it is, I would guess poor signal would be the cause.
If you get this error, pull the power cord from the back of the DCX3510 for 30 seconds to reset it.
If this continues to happen, it most likely is a signal issue as kevinds has advised. Unscrew and reconnect the coaxial cable from the back of the box, also unscrew/reconnect at the wall outlet. If there's a splitter, do the same on both ends of the splitter.
Let us know if this does the trick.
Thanks for your answers.
What I've done so far:
- pulled power cord - got online mode
- checked all coax connections - unscrew/reconnect
- replaced splitter with a new one (from Shaw roughly 3 wks ago)
- also had a signal booster installed 3 wks ago for a Gateway that we returned and replaced with the DCX3510
Will let you know if it goes offline again.
Pvr still going offline. Seems to happen around midnight, almost every night. Sometimes it comes online during the night, sometimes I have to pull the plug. Not being able to access the menu the following evening is what tells me it's still offline. Is this a Shaw signal problem or is there something wrong with the pvr. From some networking software that I have, the only apparent network outage since Jan. 2 was around 3:00am Jan. 9. It was only out for a few minutes. Called Shaw tech support and they couldn't find any problems remotely. Suggested service call if problem persisted.
It might be a signal issue with just the one wall outlet. The way to find out would be for me to examine the signal that is getting to the HD box. If you could respond to my private message, i can certainly take a closer look for you.
Hi - Bigbearmatt here. I have the same issue and don't know what to do. Tried unplugging and unscrewing the cable from the wall -- and the online mode message is still there.
I've sent you a private message. I'd like to look at the signal to your home.
