I cannot get my Outlook 2010 to sync with my iPhone 4 or Webmail. Anything I delete from one, isn't deleted on any of the other two.
Please help me, it's frustrating!!
That is correct...
Outlook 2013 is supposed to have an ActiveSync account type available to be chosen, but right now, there is no way to do it.
Your iPhone and webmail will be synchronized, but your desktop will be using POP, which won't.
Thank you very much for your response.
I still don't understand how this isn't possible. It is 2013 after all?
I set up my iPhone with POP, as well as Outlook so shouldn't they be the same?
Lastly, my friend said that her iPhone and Outlook have no problems syncing (unless she's mistaken).
When using POP, it doesn't tell the other devices (or webmail) what is deleted or read.
The ActiveSync method for getting mail, can mark the mail as read on other devices, your iPhone and Webmail. It is 2013, but you are using Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 which should support ActiveSync isn't out yet.
When it comes out, if you use that account type, it will sync between the different mail programs.
Thank you very much, again, for your quick response.
How am I able to sync my Telus e-mail then? Is it because it's through IMAP? And if so, why doesn't Shaw offer this?
Yes, it is because of IMAP. Why doesn't Shaw offer this, no idea. ActiveSync is supposed to be a more efficient method.
The Mail software they are using (Zimbra) works with IMAP.
The old business domains, shawbiz.ca shawcable.com email addresses worked with IMAP as well. From what I can tell, the version of mail everybody just got moved off of, didn't support IMAP, but they still have it blocked on the new version.
Well that definitely explains it a lot better than what I was getting (even what Shaw was telling me). Will they be supporting IMAP in the future? Also, do you know an ETA for Outlook 2013. If it's supposed to sync Shaw accounts (is this 100% confirmed?) then I would consider buying it.
I don't believe in creating a Gmail account just to re-route my Shaw e-mails as I'm already getting Telus e-mails forwarded until we move everything over!!!
Outlook 2013 hasn't been released yet, so features can change at any time... Currently, Outlook 2013 has ActiveSync support, so it should.
Microsoft says sometime in the first quarter of 2013
Will they support IMAP in the future. I have no idea, I would guess no, because the feature is already in the software now, but it isn't available.
To confirm, this would be Office 2013 that will have Outlook 2013 that's compatible with synchronizing Shaw, correct?
Secondly, would iCloud help with this issue at the moment?
Yes, Outlook 2013 (because not all versions of Office have Outlook).
iCloud no idea, never used it, I don't know anything about it.
Thank you very much for all of your help, I really appreciate it!!!
If you are considering buying Outlook 2013, and your primary reason for buying 2013, is for sync with Shaw, Microsoft usually has 90 day trials of their Office programs for download, so you could try it first.
The pre-release version is here http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/en/outlook-2013-preview If you want to try it now, but because this isn't the 100% final version (but should be), it could change.
