Installed a new Panasonic set of phones. Now when try to retrieve voice mail via *98 I get message, "Sorry, your call did not go through. Please hang up and try again." Any advice on how to rectify?
This was the solutioin. Checked an old phone and *98 worked fine. Then I realized Panasonic's default is a digital dial not a tone. The owners manual had mentioned something about 'turning on tone' when making calls that require it. So, it takes a double press of the * key to get through - once to activate 'tone' and the second links with the 98 and it goes right through. Thanks for the tip.Issue resolved.
I've seen some phones (from various brands) have an issue with the tolarance on the * button sending the wrong tone (slightly the wrong frequency). Does your old phone still work with the Panasonic phones connected? Otherwise, try plugging your new Panasonic phone directly into the phone modem, and try *98 again.
Do other * codes work properly? *69 for example
There should be a setting to set it permanently, might be set for pulse dialing right now?
