I don't know what I need to do to make this work. Any suggestions???
You will likely be using the un-password protected outgoing server, your VPN connection won't be using Shaw internet, so the outgoing mail will fail.
Switch to the SSL enabled, Port 587, mail.shaw.ca for the outgoing server, username and password the same as your incoming server.
Yes, tried that and no luck. (see below)
535 #5.7.0 Authentication failed
Log into Webmail https://webmail.shaw.ca
General - Mobile Devices
Then enter your password, and click Check Password.
Mods or front-line employees, Does off-network SMTP still need to be manually enabled for email accounts?
I don't use Webmail for emails. Also my password that gets me to my account doesn't meet the requirements for the Check Password part.
Yes, but the password check, is part of the outgoing SMTP server password requirments. So it needs to pass, try changing your password, so that it passes, then trying to send an email again.
OK, all is good. It now works and it just required a password change as well as "Switch to the SSL enabled, Port 587" Who knew it would end up being so simple. Thank you!!!
At least you confirmed for me, that it no longer requires a manual change to have the off-network SMTP access work
Glad it works now.
