I have this device and there seems to be no option to have the time and date set automatically.
Asking a dumb question, is this not available on the Shaw network ?
Its not a feature that should be on the Shaw network, but I am sure there are NTP servers somewhere...
Your tablet should have the servers 'saved' likely Samsung's, for it to get the network time from. Similar to a computer's automatic time-set.
Which version of Android is on your tablet? Do you have the cellular version? Or WiFi only? I'll see what I can find.
It's brand new : Samsung Tab 2 10.1 Model GT-PT5113
Android Version 4.1.1
This is important Somehow the year/date got set to 1900 ( I didn't do it) and many applications like Gmail couldn't even connect until I manually adjusted the date to today's date. I Googled the issue and the only thing I could come up with is that if you are in the US and on Sprint , such a feature is available.. It you can help that would be great ! Cliff
Yes, cellular devices get the time/date/time zone from the cellular network, Samsung appears to have left out a built-in NTP client to get the time from.
Thanks - I'll try that
I edited out the application, because it requires your device to be rooted.
You will need to set the time manually, I believe it is Settings - Time & Date - Then Set?
The 'time sync' app is somewhat helpful in getting the correct time and correcting discrepancies (although, alas, not "automatically".
Thanks for your research and advice.
